La Porte, Colorado, with Pastor Peter J. Peters,
and the La Porte church congregation singers.
COMMUNION SUPPER EXHORTATION
Nebraska Sand hills lightning bolt story.
Communion lines us up with the cross again.
Putting your child up to die for someone else is love,
as our Heavenly Father did this for His children.
Some that need to be snatched from the fire.
By His stripes we are healed.
We do this in remembrance of Him.
Song to close communion: Silent Night.
SERMON NOTES. December 20, 2009.
"Getting Greater Faith," Part eight.
"Faith Foundations," is the sub-title.
Romans 10:17, "So faith comes from hearing,
and hearing by the word of Christ."
What is the simple foundation of faith?
Deuteronomy 32:20, "And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very forward generation, children in whom is no faith."
We are not careful of what we hear.
Concerning music, be careful of what you hear.
See to it that no one takes you captive.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for.
Hope is something you think.
The enemy wants to change your thinking,
inserting in your mind double-think, as a spell casting technique.
The War Between the States, with men singing the
war song, "Let us die to make men free."
Double-think was used, as the soldiers sang, "Let Us Die."
You don't want to sing that when you march out onto the battlefield.
Music and songs and the lyrics in the background at the
stores and supermarkets.
The Christmas song, "Noel," is highlighted as an example.
Spell casting in the mind is double-think.
Deuteronomy 18, and the tying of a knot,
as two opposites held in the mind, with both believed as truth.
They are talking about the first Noel, as saying, "Jesus is No God."
1 Timothy 1:16-17, "Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen."
It is like turning the sprinkler on,
so that the radiation from the sun is not recognized.
Use the sun blocker prayer from the Lord's Prayer, "Deliver Me from evil."
Sermon summary on, "The nuts and bolts of faith."
Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen." and the four points.
Senses, hope, evidence, and the unseen.
1 Thessalonians 5:8, "But since we are of the day,
let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love,
and as a helmet, the hope of salvation."
2 Corinthians 5:7, "For we walk by faith, not by sight--."
Hebrews 11:3, "By faith we understand that the worlds
were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen
was not made out of things which are visible."
2 Kings 6:17, "Then Elisha prayed and said, "O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." And the LORD opened the servant's eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha."
The prophets saw the unseen.
John 15:7, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you."
An excellent sermon summary was read,
written by one of the children in the congregation.
Another excellent sermon summary was read.
Romans 8:24-25.
Evidence is proof.
Visualize your prayers.
A sixteen year old girl wrote this one.
Faith Foundation.
Be careful not to have a "Hope So, " faith.
Prayer for healing, and then their faith increases as the improvement comes,
but their right faith is not increasing,
because it is not based upon the right foundation.
Faith, true Bible faith, is based on the right foundation.
The faith escape and the escape from Egypt.
It was by faith that they came out of Egypt.
Exodus 3:10, "Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh,
so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt."
Moses believed God.
Faith is acting on what you believe.
God tried to kill Moses, as he and his family made their way to Egypt.
Exodus 5, "Let My people go."
Things changed in a hurry, as it got worse.
Moses and pharaoh, and the tightening of the grip by pharaoh.
Moses had faith based on the right foundation,
based upon the word of God,
and not upon the seen and his feelings.
There are two foundations: the sand and the Rock.
Many will base their faith upon the seen.
Base your faith upon the word of God.
"Thus saith the Lord."
Base your faith upon the promise of God,
as He is true and never has broken a promise.
God will not let you down.
Moses stood, as he had the right faith foundation,
based upon the word of God.
Have the right foundation, standing on the promises of God.
He speaks to you all the time in His word,
and yet, you don't do what He commands you to do.
Everybody has their own calling in the Body of Christ.
Don't envy another's calling.
Illustrations and standing on the promise.
Make a commitment to the Lord and your faith may be tested.
He tests our faith to strengthen us and help us.
Most of the world knows about the trivia of Hollywood,
and cell phones programming,
but the worldly know very little about the word of God.
The story of Abraham and the testing of his faith.
Many don't know the story of Abraham.
Their minds are filled with the ways of the world.
Our people have never heard the great Bible stories of faith,
so it is any wonder that they are faithless.
Galatians 3:6, "Even so Abraham BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS."
The belief, and then taking action on the belief is faith.
Romans 4:13-22, "For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if those who are of the Law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise is nullified; for the Law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, there also is no violation. For this reason it is by faith, in order that it may be in accordance with grace, so that the promise will be guaranteed to all the descendants, not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all, (as it is written, "A FATHER OF MANY NATIONS HAVE I MADE YOU") in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist. In hope against hope he believed, so that he might become a father of many nations according to that which had been spoken, "SO SHALL YOUR DESCENDANTS BE." Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb; yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform. Therefore IT WAS ALSO CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS."
Abraham's faith was based upon the word of God.
When you merely look at the seen, it can appear hopeless.
One "Acres of Diamonds" man said he always tries to leave them with hope.
"Remember, there's hope."
Romans 8:24-25, "For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it."
Your hope has got to be in the promise.
The "I am, " Confessional and believing the promise.
"I am getting greater faith."
The father of a multitude of nations, Abraham had the faith,
standing on the promise of the Lord.
Isaac was a channel to build the promise on,
but God then called upon Abraham to sacrifice the boy.
Abraham was ready and he was willing to sacrifice his son,
in obedience to the word of God.
The angel stopped the knife, as Abraham's faith was based upon the promise.
God could raise Isaac up from the dead if He needed to.
He held fast to God's promise.
Romans 4:20, "Grew strong in faith, giving glory to God."
Genesis 22:1-2, "Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am." He said, "Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Mariah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you."
Real faith thrives on a test.
What you do with the test determines what you are.
God has never asked you and I to do something we cannot do.
He can work all things for good for you, as you obey His word.
Romans 8:28, "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
Base your faith upon the word of God.
God speaks to us, as He does and He has and
you will pass the test, as you do the little things.
Soon you will find yourselves doing bigger things.
This ends the sermon, and a special announcement follows.
